Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
OwnInvoice is built around a simple principle: your invoicing data belongs to you. This policy explains the very limited data collection that happens on this website and through the OwnInvoice desktop application.
The short version
The OwnInvoice desktop application does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data. Everything you create — clients, invoices, settings — is stored only on your own computer. We have no servers that receive your invoice data, no analytics inside the app, and no account system.
This website (owninvoice.com), however, does handle some limited data, described below.
1. The desktop application
OwnInvoice is an offline-first application. All data you enter — business details, clients, invoices, settings — is stored locally in a database file on your computer. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party. We cannot see it, access it, or recover it if you lose it. Backing up your data is your responsibility.
The application may periodically check for software updates by contacting our release server. This check sends only your current app version and operating system — no personal or invoice data is included.
2. License purchases
OwnInvoice Pro is sold through Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), our payment provider and Merchant of Record. When you purchase a license, Paddle collects your email address and billing details necessary to process payment and to comply with tax regulations in your jurisdiction. We receive your email address and confirmation that payment was completed, which we use solely to generate and send your license file. We do not receive or store your card or full billing details — these are held by Paddle in accordance with their own privacy policy, available at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
3. Bug reports and feature requests
If you submit a bug report or feature request through this website, the text you provide is stored in our database (hosted on Google Firebase) so we can read and act on it. If the report was opened from within the app, it may include limited diagnostic information such as app version, operating system, and the page you were on — never your invoice or client data.
We do not ask for or require your name or email when submitting a bug report or feature request unless you choose to include it in your message.
4. Cookies and website analytics
This website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. Google reCAPTCHA is used on the bug report and feature request forms to prevent automated spam submissions. reCAPTCHA may collect technical information such as your IP address and browser characteristics in accordance with Google's privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
When you proceed to checkout, Paddle's checkout page may set its own cookies necessary to process your payment securely. These are governed by Paddle's privacy policy, not ours.
5. Hosting
This website is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. Standard server logs (such as IP address and request timestamps) may be retained by Google as part of normal infrastructure operation. We do not access these logs for marketing or tracking purposes.
6. Your rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you (for example, a bug report you submitted). Since the desktop application stores no data with us, this primarily concerns data submitted through this website. For data held by Paddle relating to your purchase, refer to Paddle's privacy policy or contact Paddle directly. Contact us at the email below for any other request.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "last updated" date at the top of this page.
